GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 487223
evince memory explodes when viewing a specific document
Last modified: 2008-05-08 14:12:16 UTC
Please describe the problem: When viewing the following document, memory used by evince (as showed by 'top') explodes. The PDF file itself is not that big (2 MB). http://www2.hursley.ibm.com/decimal/IBM-z6-mainframe-microprocessor-Webb.pdf More precisely: - first, when reading several pages, memory is already more than 500 MB - when resizing the window a bit, memory goes up to 700 MB - then there is a moment where evince becomes to eat more and more memory (going past 1MB) and I have to kill it because it is bringing my maching to its knees The evince version is Mandriva package evince-2.20.0-2mdv2008.0. Steps to reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Actual results: Expected results: Does this happen every time? Other information:
Just reproduced it with evince-2.20.1-1mdv2008.1.
Here the memory was 445m when it finished loading the document but it did not increase when I resized it. (BTW I got a lot of "cairo context error: NULL pointer" in the console)
