GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 48435
remove root popup+internal archiver
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
remove the root popup and make opening archives within Nautilus without other external programs you should put an option that if you are a root you can stop that annoying popup from appearing again.i mean the popup that says you are running Nautilus as a root and you could damage your system.Instead you could put an option that if enabled will not allow you the root from delleting, modifying certain files. you also should include an internal program that is able to open archives when i double-click on them. * REPRODUCIBLE: Always * STEPS TO REPRODUCE: try to open an archive and about the root poup, log in as the root than enter Nautilus while using Gnome:the popup will appear. * ACTUAL RESULTS: I couldn't open the archive. * EXPECTED RESULTS: It should have opened the archive. Changing to "old" target milestone for all bugs laying around with no milestone set.
marking as enhancement. On a general level I think File Roller will provide the requested archive ability for Nautilus by being a bonobo component useable as a nautilus viewer.
