Description SigWait 2001-09-10 01:18:42 UTC
After logging out of GNOME and returning to the GDM screen I press
<ctrl>+<alt>+<f1> to switch to a console. I then issue the command:

% ps awux | grep sigwait

The 'oafd' process is always running. I have to use the 'killall'
command to terminate it. Here the list of processes.

root 705 0.1 0.1 2356 1312 tty1 S 07:51 0:00 login -- sigwait
sigwait 799 1.0 0.2 3712 2200 ? S 07:51 0:00 oafd --ac-activate
--ior-output-fd=9
sigwait 839 0.7 0.1 2524 1456 tty1 S 07:52 0:00 -bash
sigwait 876 0.0 0.0 2592 744 tty1 R 07:52 0:00 ps auxw
sigwait 877 0.0 0.0 1620 592 tty1 S 07:52 0:00 grep sigwait

Here is the info from the command:

You're right, it should exit after a while. In fact, this problem has been
reported before.
