GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 477443
GNU screen functionality
Last modified: 2007-09-16 16:43:58 UTC
The problem I try top solve is that a lot of open gnome-terminal windows can fill a screen. So it would be nice to use some functionality from GNU screen (http://www.gnu.org/software/screen/) inside gnome-terminal. So the first start of gnome-terminal would start a session. And the user could simply close the window without losing the session - so just like he can do it with some other applications like some GNOME music players. Then maybe there is an applet where he can reopen "saved" sessions. This would allow a user to continue his work on command line. There should be an option to close the session, though. So if GNU screen is considered to be useful, implemting it directly in A GUI should be more powerful. Question is: Is this a good feature for gnome-terminal or better in a new application?
