GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 476275
no indication in browser if file no longer exists
Last modified: 2007-11-23 08:16:39 UTC
F-Spot does not provide a simple way to remove from the catalogue those files which don't exist. This is /very/ annoying on those rare occasions that I reorganise the filing system of my photos, as the only two ways I have found to remove non-existant files are: to go through the catalogue manually checking whether each file exists, and deleting it if not; and deleting all files, then reimporting. Each method is extremely time consuming. It would be nice if a function could be incorporated where F-Spot scans through the catalogue and automatically removes photos which no longer exist. Similar functions are built into many music jukeboxes - JRiver Jukebox does essentially that; I think Rhythmbox scans all media on load, which is rather time consuming but removes the problem entirely; Banshee doesn't remove missing media from the library, but does at least label them missing, making it far easier to manually remove them.
Duplicate of Bug #167752 And yes, it is still valid.
thanks peter a new extension coming soon from Bengt will provide a way to find and remove orphaned photos, among other cool functions. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 167752 ***
