Bug https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=391100 (warning, stupid mozilla bug hiding, so I don't know the reason for this!) seems to have moved the DOM notification and modal state setting to the prompt service which we override, so we probably need to implement them ourself. 
Need to check whether this is trunk-only or also landed on 1.8 or 1.8.1 branches...
