Description miki 2007-08-13 14:33:25 UTC
After using it for some time on Windows XP GNUCash no longer start as expected.

It takes few minutes to start and then I get an empty interface with an error:

An error occurred while loading or saving configuration information for gnucash. Some of your configuration settings may not work properly.

Adding client to server's list failed, CORBA error: IDL:omg.org/CORBA/COMM_FAILURE:1.0

I can still try to open one of my files but then it just hang.
I also tried different files.

Is <http://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Windows#GConf.2FORBit_COMM_FAILURE> relevant?

(Lowering severity; this is not a Blocker)

Thanks,

I was able to hack around it after reading the wiki.

I downgraded to ORBit2-2.13.3

and erased the file:
C:\Documents and Settings\$user\Local Settings\Temp\gconfd-$user\lock\ior
Comment 3 Andreas Köhler 2007-08-14 21:45:59 UTC
May you please update to ORBit2-2.14.7? GnuCash 2.2.1 will us that and we would like to know whether the ORBit2 makes the difference. Also, do you have any idea what you did before gnucash stopped starting? Did Windows crash or something like that? ;-)

Thanks!

I recently installed GnuCash 2.2.1 and experienced this error on startup. Installing ORBit2-2.13.3 resolved the problem (alternately, I could uninstall 2.2.1 and revert to 2.2.0 which also worked.)
