Description bun 2007-07-19 03:55:26 UTC
Could you please help me on the following question, please?
This is for the NokiaN770.
On data entry, one has to tap a cell, then tap the data entry line, the
keyboard will then show up to enter text. Is there anyway, the when tapping
the cell, the keyboard will automatically come up, so to say one keystroke of
tapping the data entry line? This is the keystrokes in order to enter two
cells:

tap a cell, then data entry line, then enter text, then press enter, then tap
another cell, then data entry line, then enter text, then press enter. 8
keystrokes.

On Excel,

Tap a cell, enter text, tap another cell, enter 2nd text. 4 keystrokes.

it takes only 4 keystrokes on Excel compare to 8 keystrokes on Gnumeric for
entering two cells.

Any suggestions?

Re: Jody Goldberg: XL handling select vs edit
If you select a cell that already has data, typing data will automatically overwritten the cell content. However, if the cell selected already has data, one can go to the data entry line and edit the cell content. After finished editing, you would NOT allow to leave the edit mode by the arrow keys, as you would if for first time data entry, you would have to 'enter' or tap another cell.

We'll need an active maemo maintainer to get to the bottom of this.

We clearly have no-one working on this and we're unlikely to ever get
that. Feel free to reopen if that changes.
