GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 453336
Simple search over all fields
Last modified: 2018-06-29 21:41:20 UTC
+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #451215 +++ Improve the search function. For a personal user this seemingly minor facility is very important. Say the kettle blows up and you want to track when you bought it to find out if it is still in warranty. The search function forces you to specify what database field to search; you may not know what account it was posted to only that somewhere in the text was "kettle". A "search all fields" function would be very powerful, which is indeed a facility I have had need to use many times in Quicken. jsled replied: That should be a "simple search over all fields". I think that should be our default search, with an "[Advanced...]" button leading to the existing one.
+1. currently the search is confusing and is not easy to use.
+1 for other/all areas as well. for example, i would like to search through the notes fields of our customers.
+1 This is the biggest thing I miss after switching from Mint. details: Got my data back from Mint, thanks to GnuCash/mysql http://www.madmode.com/2012/02/got-my-data-back-from-mint-thanks-to.html 2012-02-13
