GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 447669
support playback resumption / remembering playback position in file
Last modified: 2007-06-14 21:51:26 UTC
It would be nice if Totem could remember the last playback position in a file. Be this on exit, or when new media is loaded. Use case: Bob is watching a DVD when his friend sends him a small movie as an attachment to an email. Bob wants to watch the movie and resume his DVD playback from the same position afterwards. There already exists an RFE for "Have a choice to enqueue or replace on open" (http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=142185), which in some ways ties into this suggestion. e.g. (example of implementation) Bob opens the attached movie. Totem provides the following options: 1. Play xyz.avi now but keep my current playlist 2. Add xyz.avi to my playlist, but don't interrupt current video 3. Play xyz.avi and discard current playlist By storing the position in the stream on playback of another file in the playlist, we can allow the user to resume. If I've not made this clear enough, or you'd like some further info, please let me know :)
