On Battery: Can't dim display until idle for 31 minutes?
Last modified: 2007-07-04 13:53:07 UTC
gnome-power-manager-2.19.2-3.fc8 The lowest setting I can choose for dimming the display when idle is 31 minutes. On battery, I'd like to dim it out much sooner than that.

Well, the slider actually turns the display off after 31 minutes. The reason it's so long is that it's liked to the idle time set by gnome-screensaver. I really don't want to say RTFM [:-)] but it's in the yelp file, preferences, "Session and system idle times". I think the default session idle is 10 minutes, which is usually okay.
Saying RTFM is fine, I didn't. I have the screensaver turned off because it eats my CPU... I just looked and yes I did at one point set it to 30 mins, but then turned off the saver entirely. I'd argue though that since my screen saver is off, judging the slider based on the screen saver timeout is a bug. :-)

Richard, Are you going to apply the patch I provided in Bug 448579
(In reply to comment #5) > Are you going to apply the patch I provided in Bug 448579 No, as the interaction between session and powersave has to be really reworked for 2-19 as it's pretty crap at the moment. I'll think about this tomorrow and cc you. Cheers.
