Description Dylan VanHerpen 2007-06-08 23:53:32 UTC
Nautilus already has the functionality to show thumbnails of font files, but there's no user friendly method to install new fonts.

- A simple install script, invoked through the File menu or by right-clicking the font thumbnail.
- Fonts are copied to ~/.fonts or /usr/share/fonts (sudo)
- fc-cache runs after each font is installed

I think that this is outside of the realm of Nautilus; now that GVFS doesn't have a fonts:// backend especially. This is really a bug for e.g. Fontilus in gnome-control-center, which then could provide a Nautilus extension for easy font installs (e.g. right-click on a font and select "Install for User"/"Install for All Users" or something). So I'm going to go ahead and reassign this.

If anyone agrees that this is the way to go on this, it shouldn't be that hard to do; I probably wouldn't mind doing it for GNOME 2.24.
