GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 445150
emoticon images not attached when sending mail
Last modified: 2013-09-13 00:58:45 UTC
I upgraded to Fedora base 7 last night, which upgraded evolution to 2.1.0.1 Now the emoticon feature is broken. The emoticon images are not being embedded/attached to the email anymore, using the "auto insert" smily ":)", the message recieved by the recipient has "<IMG SRC="file:///usr/share/gtkhtml-3.14/icons/smiley-3.png" ALIGN="middle" ALT=":)" BORDER="0">" Using the "Insert -> Emoticon -> Smile" the message recieved has "<IMG SRC="/usr/share/icons/gnome/16x16/stock/emoticons/stock_smiley-1.png" ALIGN="bottom" ALT=":)" BORDER="0">" Distribution: Fedora release 7 (Moonshine) Gnome Release: 2.18.0 2007-03-23 (Red Hat, Inc) BugBuddy Version: 2.18.0
same here, evo 2.11.3.
Same here. If I write a message, while trying to insert emoticons with text combinations ( :D for example) the icons don't show up. Instead I get red crosses. If I go to the menu "Insert->Emoticon" it works correctly. I started having this problem since I upgraded from Fedora Core 6 to Fedora 7.
I got bored waiting for a response to this ticket. It turns out that the emoticon image files referenced by the auto-insert are not present on my system, I matched the icons from "Insert->Emoticon" and symlinked them to the files the auto-insert was looking for. Missing files in /usr/share/gtkhtml-3.14/icons: smiley-10.png, smiley-11.png, smiley-12.png, smiley-1.png, smiley-2.png, smiley-3.png, smiley-4.png, smiley-5.png, smiley-6.png, smiley-8.png, smiley-9.png Symlink commands to link "Insert-Emoticon" to "Auto-inserted emoticons" ln -s /usr/share/icons/gnome/16x16/stock/emoticons/stock_smiley-1.png /usr/share/gtkhtml-3.14/icons/smiley-3.png ln -s /usr/share/icons/gnome/16x16/stock/emoticons/stock_smiley-2.png /usr/share/gtkhtml-3.14/icons/smiley-4.png ln -s /usr/share/icons/gnome/16x16/stock/emoticons/stock_smiley-3.png /usr/share/gtkhtml-3.14/icons/smiley-5.png ln -s /usr/share/icons/gnome/16x16/stock/emoticons/stock_smiley-4.png /usr/share/gtkhtml-3.14/icons/smiley-1.png ln -s /usr/share/icons/gnome/16x16/stock/emoticons/stock_smiley-5.png /usr/share/gtkhtml-3.14/icons/smiley-2.png ln -s /usr/share/icons/gnome/16x16/stock/emoticons/stock_smiley-6.png /usr/share/gtkhtml-3.14/icons/smiley-6.png ln -s /usr/share/icons/gnome/16x16/stock/emoticons/stock_smiley-8.png /usr/share/gtkhtml-3.14/icons/smiley-8.png ln -s /usr/share/icons/gnome/16x16/stock/emoticons/stock_smiley-9.png /usr/share/gtkhtml-3.14/icons/smiley-9.png ln -s /usr/share/icons/gnome/16x16/stock/emoticons/stock_smiley-10.png /usr/share/gtkhtml-3.14/icons/smiley-10.png ln -s /usr/share/icons/gnome/16x16/stock/emoticons/stock_smiley-11.png /usr/share/gtkhtml-3.14/icons/smiley-11.png ln -s /usr/share/icons/gnome/16x16/stock/emoticons/stock_smiley-26.png /usr/share/gtkhtml-3.14/icons/smiley-12.png NOTE: A couple of the icons from "Insert->Emoticon" don't actually match the right images, but I linked them verbatiam anyway
