What, if anything, is printed on the terminal where you started gnucash?

Also, what, if anything, is in /tmp/gnucash.trace?
Comment 2 Peter Moeller 2007-05-30 21:50:04 UTC
i did not think of this diagnostic possibilities, sorry.

Here's the console output:

throw from within critical section.

** (bug-buddy:7901): WARNING **: Symbol für Bonobo-Komponenten-Browser konnte nicht geladen werden

** (bug-buddy:7901): WARNING **: Symbol für Order öffnen konnte nicht geladen werden
"/usr/local/bin/gnucash": not in executable format: File format not recognized
Failed to read a valid object file image from memory.

And here are the only two entries from /tmp/gnucash.trace

* 14:27:17  WARN <gnc.engine> failed to load gnc-backend-postgres from /usr/local/lib/gnucash
* 14:27:59  WARN <gnc.core-utils> Invalid utf8 string: Erffnungssaldo

I remember now, that we had a problem with german umlaute in V2.0. Meanwhile i have a new linux installation. My settings are LANG=de_DE.UTF-8, but the qif-file is created with windows, where quicken did run. Oops, could it make a difference, that i build gnucash with root-account? Because root has LANG=POSIX.

Anyway, Gnucash shouldn't crash because of this.
