[ Forwarded from http://bugs.debian.org/422470 ]

The help still has a section about "Send text to other window", but there does not seem to be such an option.

This might be silly, but shouldn't this bug instead be "Send text to other window feature missing" and have its severity set a bit higher? That feature is more or less required to make Dasher useful as a text entry application.

Removing the documentation of a feature which should not have been removed seems like the wrong way to look at this.

Dave.

The Debian bug mentions "dasher --appstyle=direct" which does the direct entry but has problems of its own - the speed doesn't appear to be modifiable, or to adapt verry quickly, the options & menus aren't available at all, and it segfaulted on me after about 5 minutes.

Seems like Dasher needs some care & attention.
Comment 3 André Klapper 2021-05-26 09:58:35 UTC
GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org.
As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org
which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately
quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).

If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent
and supported software version, then please follow
  https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines
and create a new enhancement request ticket at
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/dasher/-/issues/

Thank you for your understanding and your help.
