Description Geoffrey 2007-05-28 15:25:21 UTC
Please describe the problem:
I clicked on a select tab to view a video on NPR. Totem was launched but did not show the video. Instead gave the following error message.

Totem could not play 'rtsp://real.npr.org:80/real.npr.na-central/npr/me/2007/05/20070528_me_waka.rm?=
25132CC5E8669339='.

Steps to reproduce:
1.Click on a tab to view a video clip.
2.Totem movie viewer is launched but does not show video
3.

Actual results:
I get a Totem screen with an error message as shown above.

Expected results:
To play a video clip.

Does this happen every time?
When Totem is launched in response to a button click to view a video.

Do you have Real video codecs (win32codecs) installed? What about RTSP support in GStreamer? Could you provide the URL of the page where this happened please?

If you want Totem with the new installation of Firefox, you'll have to find out where the plugins directory for the new installation of Firefox is, and copy the Totem plugin from the old installation to the new one. I'm afraid I can't help you with this, as I don't have Ubuntu; you should ask on the Ubuntu forums, or Mozillazine if you need help with this.

What can't be? Real player? As I asked before, what's the URL of the page which gave you the original error?

To add support for most things to GStreamer, just install all the gstreamer-plugins-* packages you can find (good, bad and ugly).

This is most likely a duplicate of bug #319449 and/or bug #341752. A lot of work has been done on the RTSP stack in recent GStreamer, but realmedia is still a bit of a problem, since they have their own modifications/extensions and those aren't supported yet by GStreamer (sorry).

Thanks for the bug report. This particular bug has already been reported into our bug tracking system, but please feel free to report any further bugs you find.
