GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 439792
Can't Unblock VPN Traffic Using the GUI
Last modified: 2011-12-06 06:16:45 UTC
Please describe the problem: Firestarter blocks VPN tunnels and you can't unblock them using the graphical user interface. Steps to reproduce: 1. Use vpnc to create a VPN tunnel to a remote network gated by Cisco Systems equipment. 2. Create a continuous ping to a device in the remote network. 3. Using Firestarter's GUI attempt to create policies that allow all traffic to and from the remote peer. 4. Restart Firestarter. Actual results: The continuous ping is successful only when Firestarter is off. Expected results: The continuous ping should be successful when Firestarter is on OR off. Does this happen every time? Yes Other information: There is a non-GUI way to make this work, but the goal is to be able to control your firewall with the gui: http://www.howtoadvice.com/FirestarterVPN/
I can confirm this bug; there is still no way of configuring tunnels with the GUI.
firestarter development has been stalled and it has been unmaintained for a few years now. I contacted Tomas Junnonen (majix@iki.fi) because he is listed as Developer on project page but didn't get any response. I found firestarter on fedora wiki [1] under deprecated packages so i am closing all the bugs as WONTFIX. Please feel free to reopen the bugs in future if anyone takes the responsibility for active development. [1] http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Deprecated_packages
