GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 437659
evolution shouldn't automatically comes online when NetworkManager reconnects
Last modified: 2013-11-19 23:23:01 UTC
I believe there should be a configuration option to stop Evolution coming out of offline status (coming online) when NetworkManager reconnects. Sometimes, I don't want Evolution to be online if I'm using a slow connection or if there is no actual path to my mailserver (e.g. using a VPN). Other information:
I have a plan to add VPN awareness per-account. As of 3.6 we don't listen directly to NetworkManager anymore.
For me, it’d be enough to save whether the last switch to offline mode was deliberate (File > Work Offline) or not (NetworkManager could’t connect). As a sidenote: I use a VPN tunnel to overcome insecure wireless networks - VPN awareness per account wouldn’t help there. Sadly, my OpenConnect VPN connection isn’t recognized by Evolution as “connected to the internet”. And bypassing the automatic detection isn’t possible, either.
This is fixed in 3.11.2. Each mail account manages its own online state now.
