Description Lynn Monsanto 2007-05-04 17:22:49 UTC
When tabbing through the compoents in Sun Download Manager's "Set Options and Proxies" dialog, Orca does not speak any of the labels for the components. It appears that the LABEL_FOR relation is not set for the labels. The fact that Orca speaks all the labels at the same time, when the dialog gets focus, is more evidence this is the case.

A bug should probable be filed against the Sun Download Manager if more investigation show the LABEL_FOR relation is not set. There may already be a bug filed.

I tried to look at the component hierarchy using at-poke, but at-poke only showed the top-level components, and none of the components in the dialog. at-poke should work with Java applications, so this may be another problem.

I'm setting the severity to major because Orca cannot read the labels for most of the dialog components, making the dialog pretty much inaccessible.

Submitted an internal Sun bug report for the Sun Download Manager.

*Change Request ID*: 6554820

*Synopsis*: Sun Download Manager accessibility problem with labels and text fields
http://bt2ws.central.sun.com/CrPrint?id=6554820

The bug report is currently not viewable outside the Sun internal network.

Removing target milestone from [blocked] bugs. We have little control over them, so we're better off letting priority and severity be our guide for poking the related components.

The Sun Download Manager can be obtained here:

  http://www.sun.com/download/sdm/download.xml

The dialog in question can be found via "File->Options". This is indeed a label by/for problem.

Ke, I cannot see the internal bug mentioned in comment 1. In addition, at the
moment, jcontrol no longer works for me in OpenSolaris when AT support is
enabled. Therefore, when you have the opportunity, would you mind taking a look
at this?

Thanks!

Assigning Java bugs that I cannot do anything about to Ke.

Ke, any update on this one? Thanks!
