Description techno 2007-04-24 11:15:35 UTC
First, I wanted to tell that I've searched the bugzilla, but to no avail, so I'm making this suggestion just for it to be in here.

Basicly it's a request to add a possibility to work in a 16 bit per colour colorspace. It's mostly for upscaling images to 16bit working on them and later downscaling them back to 8 bit per color. This make images smoother and leaves more detail in them.

What a great idea. Why haven't we thought of that ourselves?

That is why searching here sucks, I've tried to simply check it out, but to no avail, I was sure the idea was here, but not a report itself.

Bugzilla search isn't perfect, but in this case it works just fine. If you go to http://bugzilla.gnome.org/query.cgi?format=advanced, select the GIMP product, type "16 bits" in the Summary field, and then hit Search, bug 74224 does show up.

Ok, I'll remember to use the advanced version of searching next time.
Sorry for trouble, and thanks for help.
