Banshee splash doesn't do shaping of Arabic text, when displaying what is actively happening. I am not sure what Bashee uses to render text there (it renders arabic text fine in the main interface), may be Pango can be used?

This affect languages that use the arabic script, such as Arabic and Farsi.

Please specify the latest version of banshee you have been able to test this against or let us know that this is no longer a problem. Thank you for helping us keep track of your bug.

Still in 0.13.1
To test, start banshee with:
LANGUAGE=ar banshee

This problem has been fixed in the development version. The fix will be available in the next major software release. Thank you for your bug report.
