------- Bug created by bug-buddy at 2007-04-16 12:46 ------- Unknown version (null) in product nautilus. Setting version to "unspecified".
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug. Unfortunately, that stack trace is missing some elements that will help a lot to solve the problem, so it will be hard for the developers to fix that crash. Can you get us a stack trace with debugging symbols? Please see http://live.gnome.org/GettingTraces for more information on how to do so. Thanks in advance!
installed nautilus-dbg and libgtk-dbg get this info in bug-buddy now: Backtrace was generated from '/usr/bin/nautilus' Using host libthread_db library "/lib/libthread_db.so.1". Can you try running nautilus under gdb (see http://live.gnome.org/GettingTraces/Details#gdb-not-yet-running for how to do this) and see if this gets a better trace?

tried to do something about this messages: (nautilus:14524): Eel-CRITICAL **: eel_pango_font_description_get_largest_fitting_font_size: assertion `maximum_acceptable_font_size > minimum_acceptable_font_size' failed (nautilus:14524): Pango-WARNING **: shape engine failure, expect ugly output. the offending font is 'Bitstream Vera Sans Bold Not-Rotated 0' I get similar messages for every TTF-font whenever I de-install the one that causes the error. so I tried to get rid of all the ttf-fonts ... did not change the crash, but interestingly even when I removed all ttf-fonts from the FontPath nautilus complained about 'Bitstream Vera Sans Bold Not-Rotated 0', which IS a ttf font...
Hmmm after some playing around with gdb & Co. I decided to give it another try with config... guess what: when I cleared out all my individual settings from gconf natuilus works again. I could not determine which one was the offending entry because I did not expect this to happen - so I cleared the conf without backup... :-( but maybe this is a hint to hunt down the bug?
ok... i't the file-browser that crashes as long as I don't use the browser view (which usually is my default view) nautilus runs like a charm so the crash on startup was caused by choosing file-browser view as default view.
