GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 415464
Rhythmbox "skips" while playing when user "seeks" backwards in song
Last modified: 2009-06-07 02:31:20 UTC
That bug has been described on https://launchpad.net/bugs/89588 "Binary package hint: rhythmbox Steps to reproduce: 1) Pick an mp3 file and play it. (NOTE: I say mp3 because I have not had a chance to test other filetypes) 2) At some point in the song, seek backwards to some point. 3) In about five seconds, the song will skip forwards about 5-10 seconds ... > Thank you for your bug. Does it happen only with mp3? Does it happen with any file? Could you try if that happens with totem-gstreamer? Could you get a "rhythmbox -d" log and one when using "GST_DEBUG_NO_COLOR=1 GST_DEBUG=5 rhythmbox &>log"? ... http://librarian.launchpad.net/6648179/log.txt.gz The first log It only happens with mp3, I just tested. I tested a variety of different mp3 files, and found the bug only occurs with specific ones. I would attach those files if it wasn't copyright infringement. I think it may be due to bad encoding of such files. Here are the logs you've requested: ... http://librarian.launchpad.net/6648201/log2.txt.gz The second log And the second log, with GST_DEBUG_NO_COLOR=1 GST_DEBUG=5 ... Update: It happens with totem-gstreamer with the said files as well"
I would like to confirm that I also experience this bug. It also skips when seeking forwards.
I also see this bug ( rhythmbox-0.9.8-2.fc6 )
I have the same problem (rhythmbox-0.9.8-2.fc6) and I've been unable to find a file that won't skip.
Does this happen both with the fluendo mp3 decoder (gstreamer0.10-fluendo-mp3 package) and the 'mad' decoder from gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly, or only with one of them?
I don't have gstreamer0.10-fluendo-mp3
I can confirm this with rhythmbox and totem. It's a gstreamer bug, most likely.
Can anyone still reproduce this with latest versions?
Wow, I haven't used Rhythmbox in a long time. Anyway, I downloaded a couple of random mp3's, played them with Rhythmbox and I no longer see the "skips" problem. I have Fedora 9 with all updates and the latest release of the free and non-free gstreamer and a whole bunch of other stuff from rpmfusion. I do NOT have the fluendo package. Cheers
