What were you doing when the application crashed? I was browsing a directory by using gthumb. After I mounted a CIFS directory, gthumb crashed. The new mount point has no overlap with the directory gthumb is browing. This is fixed in 2.8.x and 2.9.x, available at http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/gnome/sources/gthumb/2.8/ and http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/gnome/sources/gthumb/2.9/.
