GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 413052
"Too many open files" error while moving mails
Last modified: 2007-12-21 14:25:39 UTC
I have evolution-2.8.2 on SuSE Linux 10.2 x86_64 + GNOME:UNSTABLE I did following actions: 1. Created new filter rules. Moving mails from one mail account (groupwise) to second one (IMAP). 2. Pressed Ctrl+Y (apply filters) - several thousands mails were moved. 3. Created new mail folder INBOX/buzilla/Novell. 4. Marked some mails to search in INBOX/buzilla. 5. Moved to INBOX/buzilla/Novell. Actual result: After moving of 2948 mails following bug appeared (sorry for possible mistranslation): Error while Storing folder 'Inbox'. Too many open files May be related with bug 357175, which shows the same bug
The bug is reproducible only by steps 4. and 5. Evolution Error Error while Storing folder 'Inbox'. Cannot create folder lock on /home/sbrabec/.evolution/mail/ local/Inbox: Too many open files [ OK ] This time, folder summary display Regularly refreshes each second after this window appears.
And this message will appear, if I want to quit evolution (evolution will not quit). Evolution Error Error while Expunging and storing account 'mbox:/home/sbrabec/.evolution/mail/local' Cannot create folder lock on /home/sbrabec/.evolution/mail/ local/build: Too many open files [ OK ]
Refreshing is caused by following process: Hide deleted mail is active 1. Mail summary displays one mail as deleted. (sometimes this step is not visible) 2. This one mail is removed from the summary. 3. Change is detected, mail summary is refreshed without several more mails. 4. Repeat from step 1 This repeats untill all mails are moved even if evolution window is not visible.
Another work-around: 1. Go to configuration. 2. Disable automatic checking for new mails. 3. Do a move. 4. Go to configuration. 5. Enable automatic checking for new mails.
Possibly bug #348888. Are you still seeing this problem in Evolution 2.10?
