Description Chris Wilson 2007-01-23 18:55:38 UTC
You know it, I know it, we all know it - vte needs a test suite.

Feel free to add frameworks, scripts (both the shell and typescript kind) and suggestions.

Think reliability, xterm compliance, ally, and performance. Possibly even in that order.

Dumping ideas: create a testing driver that feeds a file to a vte widget, times it, and dumps out final screen contents and attributes. Then use that with particular tests that are shell or typescript...

Something to look at might be the vttest utility (http://invisible-island.net/vttest/). It's menu-driven so turning it into a test suite isn't trivial, but it at least provides somewhere to start from.
