Description Miek Gieben 2007-01-21 16:02:58 UTC
Please describe the problem:
This is on amd64 (ubuntu feisty). I cannot load some of the applets; esp
gweather-applet, gmixer-applet and the trash-applet. They all give a weird
error in .xsession-errors:

** (gnome-panel:2814): WARNING **: panel-applet-frame.c:1267: failed to load applet OAFIID:GNOME_Panel_TrashApplet:
Failed to resolve, or extend '!prefs_key=/apps/panel/applets/applet_10/prefs;background=none:;orient=down;size=x-small;locked_down=false

Steps to reproduce:
1. Start gnome
2. Add the applet
3. See the error appear in .xsession-errors

Actual results:

Expected results:
I would expect to see an applet appear

Does this happen every time?
Yes

Other information:
I've upgraded from a fully working gnome 2.16 env to 2.17 and no I cannot add some applets. Removing the '~/.gconf/apps/panel/applets' didn't help.
Comment 1 Miek Gieben 2007-01-21 18:26:57 UTC
the gnome-applets packages from ubuntu was empty(!) on amd64, rebuilding the package myself fixes the problem.

Note: an error like: 'can not find the applet' might be more meaningful.
