Steps to reproduce:
1. Open an RGB mode image.
2. Open an indexed mode image.
3. Move a layer from the RGB image to the indexed image.
4. GIMP crashes.

This happens on a Windows XP machine.

Maybe GIMP should show a dialog telling the user about the image mode incompatibility.
