Description Luca Ferretti 2006-12-20 15:03:26 UTC
Note: better perform more test with other sites.

It seems there are 3 kinds of page icons provided by web pages
 * from good pages (example: www.gnome.org)
 * from ugly page (example: http://people.freedesktop.org/~krh/akamaru.git/ )
 * from bad pages (example: http://www.ziobudda.net/)

Ugly pages are simply pages without a page icon.

Bad pages are pages providing a page icon, but ignored by Epiphany. In the previous example, ziobudda.net provides favicon.ico, but Epiphany ingore it if the favicon extension is not loaded or availabe.

Let me assume you have stored previous example pages on your bookmarks. Now, when you add a bookmark toolitem (using the Bookmarks window or the Quick Bookmark feature in toolbar editor) you have:

 * toolitems for good pages showing the page icon on toolbar
 * toolitems for ugly pages showing the STOCK_BOOKMARK named icon
 * toolitems for bad pages showing no icon on toolbar

** Expected Results **

Bookmark toolitem for ugly pages should show STOCK_BOOKMARK named icon if their custom icon can't loaded.
Comment 1 Luca Ferretti 2006-12-20 15:10:30 UTC
Update: I've just installed and loaded favicon extension.

The .ico image for ziobudda.net is not loaded in any place (bookmark entry in Bookmarks window and menu, address box, and toolitem).

:-(

http://www.ziobudda.net/favicon.ico:

Accesso negato. Per accedere alla pagina devi effettuare il login.

That means: "Access denied. Please login to access this page"

So this is not a "bad" page: simply Ephy can't access to ICO file.

I'll check for other favicons in my bookmarks.

Yep, Spanish enabled here so I kind of get Italian ;).
Just copy pasted as a response.

I have seen that sometimes my favicons disappear... BUT I'm not entirely sure.

One thing that I'm sure is that my GNOME Bugzilla smart bookmark doesn't have an icon but individual bug reports bookmarks do have an icon.

Luca, did you find a particular bookmark showing this behavior?
Comment 6 Christian Persch 2007-08-27 20:45:28 UTC
There will be no more 2.18.x releases; moving bugs off of that target milestone.
Comment 7 Cyril Brulebois 2007-09-07 04:26:49 UTC
I'm quite tempted to request that this bugreport gets closed/marked unreproducible, and eventually gets reopened in case someone is able to reproduce it. I'm unsure about how bugs are handled on Gnome's bugzilla, not accustomed yet. :-)
Comment 8 Christian Persch 2007-09-07 22:17:21 UTC
It's not clear to me what exactly the bug is here...
