Description Peter 2006-12-12 11:05:24 UTC
Documentation
Section: Help
The version is actualy 2.2.13
The help files will not load on mouse selection or using F1.
Context help does not load either.
All the files were loaded into the share folder of GIMP by the installer.
The programme does not seem to be able to access them.
There are no messages it justs flashes the hourglass and then nothing happens.

Correct version:
It should display the help system.

Other information:
I can only view help by directly loading the html docs from the share folder.

Thank you for your bug. From what application did you do "F1"? You mention "2.2.13", is that a GIMP version? There is no gnome-control-center version matching that number

In reply to the above. This is a GIMP version as I do not know how to extract the Control Center version.
I loaded English version of help first then loaded all languages when the help files would not display on F1.
I downloaded the files from gimp-win.sourceforge.net/stable.html

Gimp issue, reassigning.

The bug reporter probably wants to ask on the mailing-list instead of using Bugzilla as a help forum. If he really expects us to help with this issue, then he should at least give the most basic information such as what operation system he uses, where he got gimp and the help files from. How and where he installed them. What preference options regarding help are set...
Comment 5 Michael Schumacher 2007-01-14 16:49:09 UTC
IMO all that's left for this bug is to decide which one to duplicate it to.

Operating system XP and I got this version from gimp-win.sourceforge.net/stable.html
It does state all this in my previous notes.
I installed the help system from the extracted exe in the gimp folder.
The help installer located gimp and installed OK.
Still does not work.

IMO this is a duplicate of e.g. bug 158463. It's apparently too easy to break the default browser on Windows, switching to the internal help browser is the solution for this problem (besides fixing the local system, but this left to the user).
