Description zacrech 2006-11-16 22:30:30 UTC
I have just acquired a tablet computer ( the monitor is a tablet ) and am uable to get the montion sensitivity to work at all. I do have motion sensitivity ( I am able to use it in Alias SketchBook Pro ) and so I am unaware of what is wrong. Is there a differnt version of the GIMP that will work?

Here's my computer model and info, as it that seems to be from whence this problem has risen :

Motion Computing, M1400, model:T003. Designed for Windows XP, running on Windows XP

-thanks

AFAIK GTK+ can only access tablets via the Wintab API yet. If there is a Wintab driver for your system, it could work.

You could check if there is already a bug against GTK+ for this and resolve this one as a duplicate or reassign.

I found one bug, #343773 ( "gdk/win32 should support other tablet API than WinTab"), that could be the same thing. I will not know intill I figure out if I am using WinTab. I am still searching and any advice on where to look would be a huge help.
Thanks for the prompt response to this report ( I had expected a week to pass before hearing anything back ).

You could also ask the vendor of your tablet to provide a WinTab driver for it.

Unfortunately the WinTab API has been tangled into a patent mess. Apparently only a few (only Wacom?) tablet manufacturers bothers to pay license fee to some company that claims a patent on WinTab API, or something like that. See http://www.pointing.com/Wintab.html and http://www.geigges.de/f_support_d.htm for instance, and google for more information...
