Please describe the problem:
I can define multiple adress books in the contacts section of evolution.
Yet when I do, evolution will not autocomplete names/adresses from the secondary adress books, it will only use the standard.

You have to mark them for autocompletion in
Edit -> Preferences -> Autocompletion

indeed, apologies for not finding this. perhaps it should be that when a new address book is created, it is automatically added to the autocomplete list?

Considering the option is too hidden, I would rather suggest to add an option to address book properties, than forcing autocompletion itself.
