Please describe the problem:
This is a bug report from http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=146754. When not using gnome-volume-manager when press play the applet crashes. Here is the feedback from the user:

"I have a DVD device in my box and the following string in /etc/fstab
/dev/dvd /media/dvd iso9660 ro,noauto,user,iocharset=koi8-r,mode=0444 0 0
When I insert a DVD video media into the device I can mount DVD making use the
applet. Then when clicking on the applet I get menu with two items:

Play DVD
Umount DVD

When I select "Play" applet always crashes. "

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug.
Without a stack trace from the crash it's very hard to determine what caused it.
Can you get us a stack trace? Please see http://live.gnome.org/GettingTraces for more information on how to do so. Thanks in advance!
