the latest patch also removes hal 0.4.

I wonder if it's necessary to also give the fd-2.18.modules patch, because it uses a tarball release. I'll change the status to NEW.

I think Gnome uses tarball releases, not GIT/SVN/whatever builds...

Yeah, it's just a subset of bug 419879.  (Note, though, that this was against freedesktop.modules rather than freedesktop-2.18.modules, so I would say that the patch makes sense and should be applied, but given that it's just a subset of the other bug we'll track it there).
