What did you do exactly? Did you show the attched image image inline, clicking the drop down button?

Unfortunately, that stack trace is missing some elements that will help a lot to solve the problem, so it will be hard for the developers to fix that crash. Can you get us a stack trace with debugging symbols?

Yes, I wanted to view the picture in the preview pane by clicking on the drop-down button. It might be intresting as well that I wanted to scroll down with my laptop's touchpad (Dell D600), because the picture did not fit in the preview pane. The picture was 880 × 1754 .jpg file (353,3 KB)

According to both the description as well as the stacktrace, this is the same issue as bug 333864 and bug 351374, which has been fixed in Evolution 2.8.1.1.
