Thanks for taking the time to report this bug. Unfortunately, that stack trace is missing some elements that will help a lot to solve the problem, so it will be hard for the developers to fix that crash. Can you get us a stack trace with debugging symbols? Please see http://live.gnome.org/GettingTraces for more information on how to do so. Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure that this is how you want me to do so, but the error occured while i was searching for the word "XP" (capital). I tried to search again with the same term, it crashed again. I searched with another term, it didn't crash.

Thanks for taking the time to report this. Unfortunately, the stack trace is missing some elements that will help a lot to solve the problem, so it will be hard for the developers to fix that crash. Could someone of the developers please help fixing this by installing some debugging packages [1], start nautilus as normal, and try to reproduce the crash, if possible? Andre: As requested additional info with debug-packages installed bug report looks like this: Distribution: Ubuntu 6.10 (edgy) Gnome Release: 2.16.1 2006-10-02 (Ubuntu) BugBuddy Version: 2.16.0 Memory status: size: 104599552 vsize: 0 resident: 104599552 share: 0 rss: 33370112 rss_rlim: 0 CPU usage: start_time: 1174122252 rtime: 0 utime: 289 stime: 0 cutime:263 cstime: 0 timeout: 26 it_real_value: 0 frequency: 0 Backtrace was generated from '/usr/bin/nautilus' Using host libthread_db library "/lib/tls/i686/cmov/libthread_db.so.1". Somehow I belive this error occurs when nautilus finds several files, but cannot display them. I hope this is what you need to solve the issue

Patrik: Great trace, thank you for helping!
nice trace but it matches not the initial trace of this report, it matches Bug 316035 ...
hmm, i really wonder if the trace at bug 316035 comment 1 has something to do with the problem description of bug 316035 - the trace in comment 4 looks more likely. and bug 316035 does not have a stacktrace *without* debug symbols, so i wouldn't say that it does not match.
