Description Loïc Minier 2006-10-20 09:55:36 UTC
Hi,

gconf-editor 2.16 lost the uk help manual since the 2.14 series. Many files are missing from the tarball too:
bee% ls docs
C gconf-editor.1 gconf-editor.omf.in Makefile.am Makefile.in
bee% ls docs/C
figures gconf-editor.xml legal.xml

CVS:
bee% ls docs
C CVS es gconf-editor.1 Makefile.am
ChangeLog de fr gconf-editor.omf.in uk
bee% ls docs/C
CVS gconf-editor-C.omf l10n.txt Makefile.am
figures gconf-editor.xml legal.xml

Bye,

Hi,

This is because of the switch to using gnome-doc-utils. The required stuff is all in the tarball (for C).

The missing translations have not been moved to g-d-u yet. There is a choice between adding:
'SUBDIRS=de es fr uk' to the docs Makefile.am and docs/es/Makefile etc. to the configure.in to make the translations without moving to g-d-u

OR

moving the translations to g-d-u.

IIRC, I had some problems converting all the translations across (conflicting merges). I'm guessing this means the translations are out-of-date. The choice is then whether to include out-of-date translations or not (until they're updated).

You might want to take a look at bug 363348 which was filed for a similar reason against eog. I didn't check how they workarounded, but 2.16.1.1 has the translations.

The fix from bug #363348 is as suggested above (re-add the non-g-d-u translations to the SUBDIRS and configure.in).

As noted in the other report, this breaks several things (--disable-scrollkeeper at least).
