Description Mildred 2006-10-06 05:11:04 UTC
Sometimes, when I want to search the Internet, I put keywords onto the URL bar, then, normally a popup menu appears to let me select which searching engine I want to use to do my search, but sometimes, I forget to select one and I press directly enter.

In the old versions of epiphany, the search was done using Google by default, but on newer versions, a message appears : "The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded"
And, the problem is after that, the location bar is cleaned, so I have to reenter my keywords ...

Step to reproduce:
1. open epiphany
2. Ctrl-L to have focus on location bar
3. type "some keywords to search"
4. don't select a search engine and press directly enter
5. a popup appears
6. no more keywords on location bar

Expected result:
either the keywords be kept in the location bar or a popup asking me whuich search engine I want to use.

Thanks for reporting this bug.
This is a known problem that is already being fixed, we are all equally annoyed by this.
As a quick fix, try pressing Esc or switching to another tab and then back to recover what you typed in the location bar.

Thanks for using Epiphany.
