When attempting to boot a vmware machine from the LiveCD ISO image (not from CD-ROM), the following happens -

Boot screen appears asking to wait 20secs. Boot: prompt appears
Press enter or wait the 20 seconds (or type lowmem) and hangs with the following dump -

I have left it going for 10 mins and it stays hung :( I've also tried version 2.5 and it does the same thing

yes, you need to set xvesa server, on the live cd.
but new version doesnt make any problem when using vmware !
