GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 353369
use "n sent" title for folders with send and received messages mixed
Last modified: 2009-02-11 05:00:28 UTC
That bug has been opened on https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/evolution/+bug/57896 "I use one folder per account where I have both sent and received emails in order to have a full threaded conversation. In order to get that, I specify the place where all sent emails should go per account and also set up a filter for mail arriving from that account to the same folder. The problem is that evolution's folder counter (the thing above all the folders) shows ie. Ubuntu 325 sent, while that's not true, some were sent and some received. The same happens with the window's title. Given that evolution doesn't have the capability to provide this extra information correctly, I think it shouldn't provide it at all. Moreover, given that both texts include the folder's name, what's the problem with showing: "Sent 3 mails", :Outbox 4 mails", and so on? The folder's name gives the meaning to the emails that are inside the folder. So, getting rid of this functionality would make the program more simple (less code) and it would make it behave correctly. It shouldn't provide information it cannot guarantee its correctness."
hmm... *if* that folder is the inbox, and *if* you have set the sent folder for that account to inbox in "edit>preferences>mail accounts>edit>defaults>sent folder", i can confirm this. otherwise, i see no chance at all for evolution to find out this.
distribution comment: "http://librarian.launchpad.net/4038284/bug.png Screenshot showing the problem No, it is not the inbox folder. I have a folder called "Selenca" where I have all my email from that account (received and sent). I'm attaching a screeshot so you can see what i'm saying. Let me know if this explains the problem correctly."
you only get a "561 sent" if you tell evolution that this is a "Sent" folder in the preferences, it seems. at least all my other non-specific (not junk, not inbox, not drafts) folders show "561 total" instead of "561 sent". so i still wouldn't consider this as a bug.
according to the bug submitter description he uses the same folder to store sent and received mails, that's really a detail and a non-standard usecase but the label is incorrect
wasy workaround: do not set "Selenca" as the sent folder in your account preferences. WONTFIX to me...
Bumping version to a stable release.
(In reply to comment #5) > wasy workaround: do not set "Selenca" as the sent folder in your account > preferences. WONTFIX to me... Agreed.
