GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 352984
Evo stops updating mail view on certain HTML mail
Last modified: 2010-03-26 15:14:36 UTC
With certain HTML mail, but not only spam, Evo stops updating the mail view and keeps viewing the same message no matter where you move away... I have two options at that point: 1) double-click on each message to read them in a separate window, 2) restart Evo. I also see a milder version of the problem when on certain other HTML mail, it takes a few seconds before Evo updates to show any other message. I call it the "pray period" as I'm typically praying that it gives up after a few secs and I don't have to restart the thing.
IMAP? POP?
POP. Mail On This Computer. Doesn't seem to have anything to do with the network.
Ok, seems like stalling in DNS name resolution when working online but internet connection is shaky or non-existant.
Behdad, do you have "Load images in mail from contacts" selected in Preferences->Mail Preferences->HTML Mail? Do you happen to have an LDAP address book?
(In reply to comment #4) > Behdad, do you have "Load images in mail from contacts" selected in > Preferences->Mail Preferences->HTML Mail? I do. But I experience this bug in mails from non-contacts mostly. Mainly spam in fact. Just turned that option off. I'll see if it still happens. > Do you happen to have an LDAP address book? I do, yes. And that causes hangs when typing addresses in compose if I don't have VPN setup.
It's probably trying to check whether you have that particular sender in your address-book (including LDAP) and just hanging there... See also: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=158753
