GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 352064
can't open
Last modified: 2006-08-22 21:20:51 UTC
I run Gentoo Linux with an Intel x86 processor, and whenever I open the Totem movie player, ot loads, shows the screen, then closes. IF I double click on a file and open the Totem player that way, it works fine, but this way will not work. jonathan_homrighausen@yahoo.com
At least the version number of Totem, and the errors shown on the command-line would help...
Sorry about that - It's Totem 1.4.2 with xine-lib version 1.1.2. Here's what the command line says: The program 'totem' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)'. (Details: serial 82 error_code 11 request_code 140 minor_code 19) (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously; that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it. To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.) All the dependencies are installed. When I wasopening it and it was running well, I was playing .m4a files (Totem is the only progrm I have that will play them). I navne't tried actually playing videos yet.
Try with a newer version of Totem, should be fixed in 1.4.4. Thanks for the bug report. This particular bug has already been reported into our bug tracking system, but please feel free to report any further bugs you find. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 135045 ***
The Gentoo Portage system does not have Totem 1.4.2 on it - the latest it has is version 1.4.4. Maybe you cold contact the Gentoo people and add that to Portage? Thank you.
Huh, I'm afraid I don't care one bit about Gentoo... I'm sure you can file a bug yourself at http://bugs.gentoo.org/
Oh, ok - you're right, that isn't your job. Sorry. Thanks though!
