What were you doing when the application crashed?
playing mp3 off a 4 gig ipod mini. song stopped playing though the interface was responding.
pressing next made it crash

Stack trace resembles bug 348455.  Are you able to reproduce the problem reliably?

no, not reliably at all. it seems to be random - see other bugs reported by me :)

Looking at the stack trace a bit closer, it's almost certainly the same problem, and the fix for bug 348455 will at least stop it crashing when whatever is happening here happens.  I suspect this might be a hardware problem, or maybe filesystem damage on your ipod.
