Historically, gnome icon theme shipped the evolution app icon (evolution.png). However gnome icon theme is on a diet and only a few generic apps have an app icon included (such as a terminal and a calculator). Specific applications should ship its own app icon.

Attached is the artwork in all applicable sizes.

Evolution can also stop shipping the old Ximian logo (art/evolution.png) now.

My patch for bug #350253 uses these newer icons in the About dialog.

Harish, can we get this into Evolution 2.9?

Proposed patch

This patch integrates the newer icons and also eliminates some old ones.

I've arranged the icons files like so:

   art/16x16/evolution.png
   art/22x22/evolution.png
   art/24x24/evolution.png
   art/32x32/evolution.png
   art/scalable/evolution.svg

I also audited the art directory, found the following images to be obsolete, and removed them from art/Makefile.am so that we stop shipping them:

   art/about-box.png
   art/bcg.png
   art/evolution.png
   art/monkey-16.png

Eliminating art/monkey-16.png required some additional changes to the mailer.  The image is displayed in messages when the "Mailer" header option is selected in Preferences and the sender used Evolution.  Seems like a superfluous feature to me, but nonetheless I have it using art/16x16/evolution.png now.
