GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 350146
slow filesystems slow operations on fast filesystems.
Last modified: 2008-02-13 09:21:11 UTC
Hi, i'm using nautilus 2.14.1. I've noticed that when they are slow fuse filesystems (like curlftpfs), nautilus becomes very slow for normal operation on regular filesystmes. For example : - i have a reiserfs / and an curlftpfs /ftp - i have two nautilus windows opened on / and /ftp. - i'm browsing in /ftp (this involves thumbnailing images, etc). it's is slow because of ftp / network - opening /pictures takes 5s (i've opened it several times, every time it takes 5s, no disk IO, no thumbnailing) - fusermount -u /ftp - opening /pictures takes less 1s
I don't think this bug is a dup of #170626 ; it doesn't hang, it doesn't block. It just becomes very slow on other faster fs. These bugs may be related but i don't think they should be merged. To be clearer : operations are slower on / even if /ftp is not being accessed. I mean : - /ftp is loaded in a window. don't do anything on /ftp. - opening /pictures takes 5s - fusermount -u /ftp - opening /pictures takes less 1s
