GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 349908
Freeze when connecting to remote SSH server that has firewalled port 22
Last modified: 2008-01-30 00:19:52 UTC
Please describe the problem: The Nautilus UI freezes if one clicks on a SSH server that's been added with "Connect to Server..." if the server has firewalled port 22. Steps to reproduce: 1. Add a SSH server with "Connect to Server..." 2. Make sure the server's firewall blocks port 22 3. Click on server icon that was added with "Connect to Server..." Actual results: Nautilus becomes completely unresponsive. Only way to get back to normal is to kill it. Expected results: Nautilus UI shouldn't freeze. Does this happen every time? Yes. Created attachment 81101 [details] Nautilus freezes while waiting for FTP server response
Same here. Nautilus freezes while waiting for FTP server response. See attachment 81101 [details]. My case is a normal authenticated FTP server (ftp.deds.nl) that is just slow. nautilus version 2.14.3-7 (from Debian Etch) libgnomevfs verion 2.14.2-4 (from Debian Etch)
Same here. Nautilus freezes if the connection takes too long/the server is unconnectable. This happens for FTP connections to me. Havent tried anything else. Sometimes it doesn't hang unless you expand and unexpand the server while its trying to connect in the tree view. There should be more output on what's happening when it's connecting, a status window maybe (besides fixing the hang itself ofcourse). nautilus-2.16.3 gnome-vfs-2.16.3-r1 (both from Gentoo portage)
Here's a good way to reproduce this: 1) In Nautilus: File > Connect to server... 2) Choose "Public FTP" 3) In "Server:" type: google.com 4) Press "Connect" 5) Expand the server in tree view. Reproducible: Always
