GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 349565
evolution searches for subject/sender instead of the set value
Last modified: 2013-09-13 00:50:15 UTC
evo 2.7.90: go to the evolution user mailing list folder. go to the quick search. change "subject or sender contains" to "message contains". type "harish calendar". ;-) hit enter. see some results. hit "control+shift+q" to remove the search view. again, type "harish calendar". hit enter. see NO results. double-check and realize that the dropdown menu still states "message contains". hit "control+shift+q" to remove the search view again. use shift+tab to get the focus out of the quick search text input field. see that the text input field says "subject or sender contains", but the dropdown menu says "message contains". obviously i see NO results for the second search because evolution searches for "subject or sender contains", but not for "message contains". test case: set up a test folder. add one email with subject "something else" and message body "only a good piece of chocolate and some german beer will save your day". of course the body text is extremely important for this example, so don't even TRY to change it, otherwise this test case will miserably fail(TM)! ;-) add another email with subject "only a good piece of chocolate and some german beer will save your day" and message body "something else". search for "something else" in the message. in the first search, you will find both messages. in the second search, you will only find the one with the subject, but not with the message body. before fixing this, decide what should happen when one removes the search view (=control+shift+q)? the text input is cleared, but should also the "search subject/sender/recipients/message/whatsoever" value be cleared or not? 100% reproducible.
the criteria should be preserved. It was designed with that objective
means? confirmation? :-)
yup
Yep. Thanks guenther.
Fixed to HEAD.
