Description Sebastien Bacher 2006-07-19 14:55:15 UTC
That bug has been opened on https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/evolution/+bug/53331

"when I start evolution from the panel icon, then wait for it to startup, and immediately hit 'space' without having clicked on anything first, the menu tears off - which is exceedingly annoying."
Comment 1 Karsten Bräckelmann 2006-07-19 15:52:15 UTC
For this behavior, the "detachable toolbars" option of the GNOME perefrences has to be enabled, which is not the default.

The actual problem is not, that the menu tears off in this case, but that the toolbar tear-off handle has focus when starting Evo with this option enabled.
IIRC this is a known bug and filed. I can't find it, though. *sigh*

Note: When the toolbar is detached, just focus the toolbar again (note the focus being on the tear-off handle) and hit space again. This will make the toolbar switch back into the main UI.

Probabledup. Sorry for the noise, forgot to set the keyword.
Comment 3 Matthew Barnes 2008-03-11 00:28:18 UTC
Bumping version to a stable release.
Comment 4 Matthew Barnes 2008-12-28 08:21:50 UTC
Does the "detachable toolbars" option still exist in GNOME?
Don't see it anywhere in Appearance Preferences, which is a good thing.
Comment 5 Matthew Barnes 2009-01-29 05:21:56 UTC
Fixed on the kill-bonobo branch since detachable toolbars are not possible.
Comment 6 Matthew Barnes 2009-08-30 05:53:24 UTC
The "kill-bonobo" branch has been merged into "master" and will debut as Evolution 2.29.1. We believe the branch has addressed the reported issue. If you find the issue still exists in version 2.29 or later please feel free to re-open this bug.

Closing as FIXED.
