Description Sebastien Bacher 2006-07-13 09:34:52 UTC
That bug has been opened on https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/evolution/+bug/52800

"when trying to set up a new account and going through the wizard, if I choose "Server type: microsoft exchange" then the only field I am given to fill in is Username. If I fill this in, I cannot choose "Forward"
..."

please check that "Exchange Operations"
plugin is enabled or not.

If not, see while loading Evolution, if you
are seeing any error message in the console about
failure on loading some other plugin, because
of some symbol resolution issue, and file a
bug on that component. Mostly the exahange pluing is
not getting loaded because some other library has
not loaded.
Comment 2 Sebastien Bacher 2006-07-13 16:43:00 UTC
I'll ask to the submitter but on my box it's probably not activated because I decided to unselect it since I don't use exchange. Anyway the UI should not list exchange as possible account type to create if that's something which doesn't work without the plugin, at the moment the dialog is just confusing, it looks like you can use it in a normal way but you can't go to the next page without explanation
Comment 3 Sebastien Bacher 2006-07-13 16:45:45 UTC
the submitter pointed that issue on the distribution bug:

"exchange-connector-setup-2.8: error while loading shared libraries: libeutil.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory"

Which is weird because /usr/lib/evolution/2.8/libeutil.so.0 is installed

For the comment #2,
Exchange plugin is a default plugin and it will be enabled by
default. So when the exchange server type is seleted, UI
will show all the required fields.

Listing the server type is not done by plugins, account setup
dialog looks at the installed server files and lists the options.
If you see some problem there, file a bug on Evolution, though I
don't see any issue there. It's not exchange specific bug.

The problem here is plugin is not loaded because of the missing
library. I feel, for the end user point of view, Evolution should
show some error dialog indicating the failure of loading of the
default plugins.

I am moving it to Evolution mailer.

Exchange plugin has been moved to system plugin and user no longer can see in edit > plugin list. This bug can be closed now.
