Assertion during weird selection behaviour

While I was editing a few files (in ther same gedit window) I selected some text in one to copy to a different file. After selecting the text I typed Control-C, switched to the other tab, and types Control-V to paste. After switching back to the first tab, I noticed that was still changing the selection when I moved the mouse, as if it was still held down from the initial selection. When I next clicked the mouse gedit died, with the following assertion printed on the console: Gtk-ERROR **: file gtktextview.c: line 5670 (gtk_text_view_start_selection_drag): assertion failed: (text_view->selection_drag_handler == 0) aborting...
